Rashid Mohamud Abuuh, 23, allegedly got a quote for the plane ticket from Escape Travel at Belconnen less than two hours after police served him with a summons to face court on charges linked to the alleged assault.

It's alleged he was in the company of two other men, who have also been charged, when they attacked the two women in a Reid apartment on March 12.

Police allegations tendered in court alleged the sex workers were threatened at knifepoint, stripped of their clothes and repeatedly raped during the attack, after one of the accused booked a "full service".

Abuuh pleaded not guilty in the ACT Magistrates Court on Tuesday to two counts of sexual intercourse without consent, threatening to inflict grievous bodily harm with an intent to have sex, and aggravated robbery.

He was placed on strict bail conditions but appeared in court again on Thursday after police arrested him for breaching his curfew.

Prosecutor Phoebe Burgoyne-Scutts urged the court to revoke his bail and said Abuuh had informed ACT Corrective Services staff he planned to leave for Somalia, with a stop-over in Istanbul, on a flight out of Sydney next Wednesday.

Abuuh, who represented himself in court, claimed he had left his Florey home because he felt sick and went to Ginninderra Medical Centre shortly after 9.30pm on Wednesday.

When the centre was closed, he claimed he started to walk to Calvary Hospital before he got a call from a family member who said police were at the house.

Abuuh said he caught a taxi home and he was arrested.

He admitted he'd booked the flight as he planned to travel overseas for five or six weeks to get married and visit family friends.

Abuuh said he had been told he could ask for his bail conditions to be varied and had kept Corrective Services staff informed of his travel plans, even giving them a copy of his plane ticket.

Detective Senior Constable Susanna Leister gave evidence Abuuh had sought a quote for the flight on September 29 after she'd served him a summons to face court, and he'd booked the ticket on Tuesday.

She understood the agent had asked Abuuh if he wanted to purchase a return airfare and he said he didn't need one.

"Given the timing of the purchase of the ticket I believe he is a flight risk and has no intention of returning and appearing before the court," she said.

The court heard police held concerns Abuuh would flee the ACT, or the country, even if he handed over his passport to authorities, and feared his family could help him leave if he was released.

Detective Senior Constable Leister said the defendant was under investigation for other similar attacks on sex workers in the ACT and there were concerns he could try to contact victims.

While Abuuh admitted he had previously engaged the services of escorts, he said he had contacted them through a website and did not know their names or contact details.

Ms Burgoyne-Scutts argued the offences before the court were serious and the timing of Abuuh's ticket purchase was "overly convenient".

Magistrate Glenn Theakston held grave concerns Abuuh would not reappear at court and revoked his bail.

He was remanded in custody until the case returns to court on December 20.

ACT Policing said in a statement last month the men had been charged as part of Operation Sparren, an extensive investigation into multiple reports of violent sexual assaults targeting female sex workers across Canberra.
