Abdul Karim Nikro, 28, was arrested on Friday after the police simultaneously raided 10 properties in an operation they claim dismantled a major Canberra drug syndicate.
Police initially charged the defendant with drug trafficking, but he was charged with a further two counts of the offence when he appeared in the ACT Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
He did not apply for bail. The fresh charges means Mr Nikro is now facing three counts of trafficking cocaine. He is yet to enter a plea.
Court documents say police were in March given the green light to purchase drugs from the defendant in an undercover operation. On April 11, police allege an undercover agent paid Mr Nikro $8000 for 82.3 grams of cocaine in Crace, with a promise to provide a further $16,000 at a later date.
The agent paid the outstanding money on April 23, court documents said. Mr Nikro then allegedly supplied a further 168 grams of cocaine to the agent in exchange for part payment of $15,400 in Crace on May 2.The officer allegedly paid a further $7700 in cash on May 16.
Court documents said officers then obtained five search warrants and arranged a third deal with Mr Nikro on May 23. It is alleged Mr Nikro then delivered 280 grams of cocaine and was paid $50,000 at the meeting.
Police then swooped on the defendant. Searches of a white Toyota Hilux and properties in Civic, Crace and Lyneham allegedly uncovered about $185,000 in cash, 450 grams of cocaine, 20 pills suspected to be MDMA, scales and 150 grams of cutting agent.
Mr Nikro’s lawyer, Kamy Saeedi, asked the Magistrates Court on Tuesday to adjourn the matter for three weeks to allow his office time to collect information for the defence case.
Chief Magistrate Lorraine Walker ordered the matter reappear next month.
