Canberra will turn rainbow in November as the annual SpringOut festival grows even larger on the back of new funding from the ACT Labor government.

Chief minister Andrew Barr will announce the new funding for Canberra's largest gay and lesbian event in a speech at the Aids Action Council candlelight memorial on Sunday night, the International Day against Homophobia and Transphobia.
Mr Barr will pledge $10,000 in sponsorship from the Chief Minister's Community Support Fund for Canberra's Queer Cultural Festival, the ACT's official pride festival which has run for 25 years.
In addition, the government will provide further support for the festival by enabling local partnerships with local precincts such as New Acton and Braddon, as well as distributing rainbow CBR government material at the festival.
"International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia is all of us speaking out together against discrimination," Mr Barr will say on Sunday.
"So that we're not alone, and the people experiencing the discrimination don't feel alone. It's important we don't let days like these pass as one-off moments of inclusion.
"We need to make sure that we express our community's commitment to diversity and inclusion often and loudly. I'm proud that we have events like SpringOut... to help us celebrate the strength of diversity in our community."
