Police are hunting an armed bandit who held up a 7-Eleven service station on Erindale Drive, Wanniassa, with a makeshift spear in the early hours of the morning.

Police said the caucasian man, who was about 180-190cm (5'10" to 6'2"), threatened a member of staff with a knife attached to a stick and demanded cash at about 2.30am, Saturday, June 7.
ACT Policing said the 7-Eleven staff complied with the demands and handed over cash. The thief then ran away, in the direction of Erindale Drive and Ashley Drive.
The offender has a medium build and had a dark beard. Police ask anybody who can identify the man or who may have information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
