A missing luggage dilemma had the man who creates dream dresses making some urgent phone calls before his runway parade featuring the clothes of his diffusion line, Jayson Brunsdon Black Label, which is available through Myer.
Brunsdon is one of the designers featured at this year's spring festival Floriade and his frocks were presented at the Look and Learn marquee at Commonwealth Park on the backs of local and interstate models.
He is a fan of the festival.
''It's beautiful, it's gorgeous. The flowers are incredible.''
His diffusion line of dresses aims to be accessible in price and features florals, 1950s silhouettes, cotton and lace and plenty of feminine charm. Brunsdon is an advocate of restraint in style.
''We were backstage deciding whether to put jewellery on the models; we decided not to.
''I think one of the most important things is un-accessorise sometimes.
''It's important to realise when to stop,'' he said.
''You don't need to pile everything on. Sometimes it can look fantastic, fabulous, particularly for a photograph, but I think women look better when they're toned down a bit.''
Brunsdon thinks the attention-grabbing style of fashion show-goers who dress for bloggers can be a tad too much.
''You think, 'My God, there's a woman in there somewhere. Is there a person under those 10 clashing prints?' ''
Floriade's NightFest opens tonight with an interactive display of lights on the garden beds and blooms. Visitors will get the chance to play lighting designer, using iPads to control coloured lights and effects at six flower beds around Commonwealth Park. Organisers have stopped showing movies this year - instead, the five-day festival features themed nights, including a Latino night tomorrow and a ''party night'' on Saturday with DJs, cooking demonstrations, a stand-up comedy line-up and live music on Stage 88.
