Burnt toast closes down Civic street in Canberra

Police closed Constitution Avenue between London Circuit and Allara Street as three fire pumpers, the Bronto Skylift Hydraulic Platform, the Breathing Apparatus Van and two command units attended the scene in response to the alarm.

The building was evacuated as fire crews investigated the source of the alarm, finding a toaster was the culprit.

A police spokesperson said closing the street was a standard response when a building is evacuated with a potential fire.
