Jurors took just under six hours to find Dr Ammar Dhaimat, 40, of Duffy, guilty of committing two acts of indecency on the woman.

The Belconnen GP, who is suspended from practising medicine, did not react as the ACT Supreme Court jury delivered its verdict after a three-day trial.

During the trial, jurors heard the victim, who was a vegan, attended regular appointments at the northside medical centre to receive vitamin B12 injections.

She said his conduct had become excessively friendly at each consultation, giving her his personal number three times, inviting her to dinner, and complimenting her skin.

At the Anzac Day consultation, she received an injection at the nurse station before he attempted to kiss her on the mouth.

But she twisted her head and his lips instead made contact with left cheek.

Dhaimat said it had been "for luck" when she questioned him.

The woman at first brushed the incident off as a cultural misunderstanding and returned to his consultation room to collect her possessions.

She tried to move away, but he grabbed her and kissed her a third time.

But Dhaimat had argued her claim had been “a false allegation” and “never happened”.

The doctor told the court, from the witness box, that two children of a staff member had been in the room waiting for a flu shot during the woman's injection.

Dhaimat said the woman’s friendly manner had changed when he had told her amphetamine-based "diet pills" and horse steroids were illegal or not available in Australia.

In closing, Mr Drumgold told the jury it had been an unsolicited "kiss by stealth" by an older man on a 21-year-old university student.

"Uninvited by a doctor on a patient," Mr Drumgold said.

But defence counsel Theresa Warwick said jurors could not be satisfied of Dhaimat’s guilt beyond reasonable doubt based on the prosecution case.

Ms Warwick said the complainant’s version of the events had steadily changed from her initial police statement to her evidence in court.

Ms Warwick said the three-day trial came down to word against word as the prosecution had failed to provide jurors with potentially significant evidence, including statements from the two girls.

Justice John Burns continued the offender’s bail.

He will be sentenced next week.
