1. ICE SKATING
Garema Place will be given its annual winter wonderland makeover from this Friday for the Skating At Festival. As well as an ice rink, there will be a giant ice slide, jumping castle and and inflatable slide. Ice skating is suitable for ages 3 and up, and tickets start at $6 for a 45 minute session. It's running from June 23-July 16 with sessions on Monday to Thursday 10am-8pm, Friday and Saturday 10am-10pm, and Sunday 9am-8pm. More information and bookings at canberra.skatingat.com.au.
2. TRUFFLE MARKET DAY
The Truffle Festival is in full swing, and this weekend, the festival is popping up at Westfield Belconnen on Saturday. Cooking demonstrations will be hosted throughout the day by Pialligo Estate (10am), Foodish (midday), Dish It Up! (2pm) and Poachers Pantry (4pm) at Centre Court, Level 1 near Myer. Throughout the day there will also be wine tastings, local market stalls, food sampling, free kids activities and giveaways throughout the centre from 9am-5pm. All events are free and no bookings are required.
3. MAKING AS MEDITATION
If you're in need of a bit of zen, this sounds like a pretty relaxing way to spend Sunday afternoon. Canberra visual artist Sally Blake will guide a meditative workshop on how to make repetitive patterns using pressed plant matter collected from around Canberra, alongside an original soundtrack by artist Dylan Martorell, using sound recordings from the Australian Botanical Gardens specially for this workshop. It's on Sunday at Hotel Hotel from 3-4.30pm. $45 from eventbrite.com.au.
4. MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL COMEDY FESTIVAL ROADSHOW
You can get a taste of this year's Melbourne International Comedy Festival when the annual roadshow rolls into town for one show only at Canberra Theatre Centre. This year's lineup includes Cal Wilson, Damien Power, Dane Simpson, Daniel Connell, and Sam Taunton. It's on Saturday night at 7pm. Tickets at canberratheatrecentre.com.au.
5. SHE-RIFF VOLUME 6
She-Riff is Canberra's series of performance nights of original Canberra solo artists and bands featuring female musicians. It's on for its sixth event this Saturday night, with a local lineup featuring Ayla, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, and Okinawa Girls. On at Transit Bar from 8pm. Entry is $10, and the event s 18+.
6. RAIDERS MATCH
Rug up this Saturday night and watch the Canberra Raiders host the Brisbane Broncos at GIO Stadium. Gates open at 3pm, with kick off at 5.30pm. Tickets at premier.ticketek.com.au or at the gate.
