It's sure to be a busy Father's Day in the Nichols household. Amber Nichols is due to have her second baby on September 7 and her parents will be in Canberra for the occasion.

For Amber, the day will not only be about celebrating her husband, but also her dad Alan.

"Family means a lot to Dad, he's so proud of all us kids, he's really a softie," she says.

"He's really not afraid to show his emotions when it comes to us."

Amber is looking forward to spending the day with her whole family, including her two brothers and sister. One of her brothers is also expecting a baby a couple of weeks after Amber.

Her parents will be travelling from Coffs Harbour to spend time with their kids.

"My parents just moved to Coffs Harbour actually with my brother and they're running a motel there," she says.

Many of Amber's memories of her Dad involve him supporting her through her singing career.

"Both my parents were very supportive of me, both emotionally and financially, when I finished school and told them I wanted to pursue singing instead of going to uni," she says.

"I distinctly remember for my blind auditions for The Voice coming off stage and everyone saying 'Your dad was crying out there in the audience.'"

"I think he's just proud of me, he loves seeing me doing what I love."

Amber also credits her Dad for some of her personality traits, saying "he's passed down his severe obsessive compulsive cleanliness to me, when we were growing up everything had to be perfectly spotless, and now I find myself doing the same".

At the same time, Amber also loves him for being young at heart and easy to get along with.

"All of his friends are my age really, before they moved he was still playing in a soccer team with my husband and brother," she says.

"He's very active, when we're all together or have people over he's always the one organising games and he loves to be active and involved."

For the first time in about seven years all the Flanagan family will be spending Father's Day together.

"With my sister overseas and me on the other side of the country, we haven't managed to celebrate Father's Day for a while," Anna says.

"We tend to just value any day where we can all be together rather than one specific day."

Anna says her father Fred has always been one of her biggest motivators.

"I really appreciate all the time he's put into getting me to where I am," she says.

As well as a love of hockey, she also inherited a love for fishing and camping from her Dad, after he bought her a fishing rod when she was five.

"I think it was more a gift to himself than anything," she laughs.

Her favourite childhood memories revolve around the time spent camping as a family.

"I remember one time I caught a flathead the size of my body, and he didn't catch anything all day," she says.

"Usually it's the other way around!"

Anna's affection for her father is clear when she begins to talk about his nickname.

"Dad's nickname is dead-eye," she says.

"He was hit in the eye with a hockey stick when he was 17, so he's blind in one eye."

Her favourite thing about her Dad, however, is that he has been willing to do anything to help her succeed. Recently, Anna's parents moved to Perth to be closer to their daughter.

"That was a really big thing for them I think. Dad's a born and bred Canberra man, so it's a huge thing that they've come over to Perth, I think they miss quite a lot of things about Canberra."

Emma and Carla Papas are passionate about healthy food and healthy living. Otherwise known as The Merrymaker Sisters, the pair are on a journey to change the world, one recipe at a time. Much of their enthusiasm comes from their father Peter.

"He definitely inspired the beginning of it," Carla says.

"Dad owns his own business too, so we grew up watching him work from home and building his own business. We always knew that we wanted to do our own business and that was because of Dad."

Emma says Peter has always been an inspiration, always told them to chase their dreams.

"He always told us to dream big and that we were capable of anything. It would sound something like this: 'You have two arms, you have two legs, you can do anything.' And that is still with us today."

Carla says Peter has always been supportive of his daughters

"He's always been someone you can lean on, it's unconditional love. He's funny and you can always depend on him."

While the sisters follow a paleo diet, they're quite happy that Peter has his own philosophy on food.

"His breakfast routine just cracks me up," Carla says.

"He will have a bowl of fruit and yoghurt, then a bowl of cereal and then toast. And you have to do it in that order. Even if we have bacon and eggs, Dad's like, 'I need my fruit and yoghurt! I need my cereal! I need my toast!'."
