Glownuts are this year's flashing fairy floss at Enlighten as Nutie Donuts head to Canberra for the festival

They will be bringing with them Glownuts - glow-in-the-dark doughnuts - which will surely be this year's answer to the flashing fairy floss.

(But, fear not, flashing fairy floss will still be a part of Enlighten 2018. The Questacon Shop will be selling it from a cart on the rear science court on both Fridays of the event, March 2 and 9 between 7.30pm and 10pm.)

Nutie Donuts will be serving in the new Enlighten Alley situated within the Parliamentary Triangle on both Fridays, March 2 and 9 and both Saturdays, March 3 and 10 from 5pm to 11pm. (The alley is on the East Lawns, Reconciliation Place.)

Baker Sina Klug and her business partner Jacques Dumont started their business selling delectable vegan and gluten-free doughnuts at the Bondi Farmers Market.

"We started with a second-hand oven in the lounge room," Sina said, with a laugh.

They have since opened a store in Balmain, and have a loyal clientele from Canberra.

"A lot of people drive up here on the weekend to stock up doughnuts and treats," Sina said.

Enlighten is the business' first venture out of Sydney.

There will be 18 flavours of doughnut on offer at Enlighten including Nutie's signature rosewater and pistachio doughnut.

There is also a Snickers vegan doughnut, the Couch Potato doughnut which is apparently a mix of salted chips and chocolate ("It sells out first every day. The mix of sweet and salty is amazing," Sina said.) and the Golden Gaytime Donut Bomb.

The glow-in-the-dark Glownuts will be in raspberry, blueberry and lime flavours and a blue-light selfie box will be available for the all-important social media post.

So how do they glow?

"It's a super-special, edible glow powder. It's insane," Sina said.

"It's so hard to get. I ordered it months ago. Once you add the colour, it's like super-hero slime. It's so much fun."
