Police say the man was rushed to Canberra Hospital with life threatening injuries. They say the cars collided about 9.30 on Saturday night, causing one to spin out of control and slam into a tree in Canberra’s south.
ACT Fire and Rescue staff cut the young man from the wreckage and a female passenger in the same vehicle was taken to hospital for precautionary observations.
The driver and passenger in the second vehicle did not suffer any injuries. ACT Policing’s Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Team is investigating the accident.
Superintendent Kylie Flower of Traffic Operations says drivers need to be cautious given the rain and slippery conditions. “The inclement weather offers a timely reminder to Canberra drivers to slow down, turn their lights on and always drive to the conditions.
‘‘This includes taking the initiative to pull over, when safe to do so, if conditions become too dangerous, ” Superintendent Flower said.
