In sweeping changes that were more dramatic than foreshadowed, the new Prime Minister has named an expanded cabinet of 21 – up from 19 – including Australia's first ever female defence minister, the first female cabinet minister within the Treasury portfolio and the first Indigenous MP to be a member of the Executive Council.
- The main union representing federal public servants hopes the new minister responsible for the Australian Public Service, Senator Michaelia Cash, will result in a re-think of government policy.

Tony Lockett, Bob Skilton, Paul Kelly ... the Swans have had their share of champions don the red and white but it's doubtful any player has transcended the game like Adam Goodes, whose carer was marked by 372 games, two grand final wins and two Brownlow Medals, but hit by a racial booing controversy that peaked late in the 2015 season.

Between 50 and 60 animal-lovers blessed their fluffy, feathery, scaly and slimey animals at Kippax Uniting Church on Sunday for a morning of "semi-organised chaos."
Two-month-old Bambi the bunny was among the four-legged church-goers, brought in by the Harper family to celebrate the companionship and care between humans and creatures.
