Don Burke 'adores' Barnaby Joyce, despite apparent spat
Disgraced celebrity gardener Don Burke told Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce he would reveal to the media his criticisms of an embattled government agency unless the Coalition followed through on reforms of the organisation.
Documents released in the senate on Wednesday reveal Mr Burke became increasingly frustrated as Mr Joyce apparently failed to respond to requests for information about an advisory board for the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Authority, amid its controversial relocation to Mr Joyce's electorate of New England.
But Mr Burke told Tom McIlroy and Doug Dingwall he "adores" Mr Joyce, who he described as a "family man".

Canberra couple pleads for help
A Canberra couple violently attacked in their own home in a case of mistaken identity have appealed for the public's help in tracking down their assailants.
The Civic couple were in their apartment eating dinner on March 14 when three armed men, wearing balaclavas and wielding a firearm, kicked in the door. The man was knocked unconscious by the butt of a gun and his partner punched in the face.
Police say the attackers went to the wrong home over what's believed to be a drug-related dispute.

Sewage testing shows drug use rife in the capital
Monitoring of waste water in Canberra has revealed some of the highest use of oxycodone, cocaine and heroin in Australia.
Analysis by the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission found Canberra had the highest capital city oxycodone consumption levels in August and the capital reported the second consumption levels for cocaine and heroin nationally.
Samples were collected from sewerage and waste waster treatment facilities during April, June and August this year.

Canberra's first tram arrives
Canberra's first tram was escorted into the city under the cover of darkness this week.
The tram was towed into a shed Exhibition Park in Canberra at Mitchell about 2am on Wednesday. The ACT Government is expected to unofficially unveil it soon.
Megan Doherty writes it's the first tangible sign of progress on the multi-million dollar light rail network.
