Autumn photo competition third prize-winner and owner of The Henge at Bywong on the ACT's outskirts, Mr Wallace hosted a winter solstice event recently to celebrate the longest night of the year.
"It was an awesome sunset, then we had a few meteors and a bit of a rainbow as well, so there was a good lot of photos, a lot of photographers," he said.
"It's the right time of year for the frost and the really colourful sunsets and sunrises at the moment."
Mr Wallace said about 300 people came out for the event, a few thousand shy of the 20,000 seen at Stonehenge in Britain.
Out at Bywong they steered clear of any of the pagan rituals seen at some genuinely ancient sites around the world, and instead enjoyed a barbecue, hot chocolate, mulled wine and a fun family atmosphere.
"There was one lady turn up with a guitar she had engraved and wanted blessed, and I thought I'm probably not the one to do that sort of thing," he said.
Mr Wallace said they would also celebrate the equinox, and welcomed any ideas for other festivals at Canberra's own Stonehenge recreation.
