If that old adage "if it's not on Instagram, it didn't happen" holds true, Canberra must be a very happening place.

When the world's biggest photo-sharing platform revealed its top tagged locations for 2015, seven iconic Canberra spots really shone.
Sorbet skies, seas of flowers and freakish foods inspired tens of thousands of us to pull out our smartphone and snap away.
While Australia's most Instagrammed destinations included the Sydney Opera House, Darling Harbour and Surfers Paradise Beach, here's what's making Canberra Instafamous:
Floriade
Canberra's annual celebration of spring proved to be our most shareable event for the year, with a whopping 34,516 posts incorporating the Floriade hashtag.
Parliament House
Pollies and protesters alike can't resist snapping a picture at Australia's most recognisable digs.
While former prime minister Tony Abbott's farewell spiel elicited the largest outpouring of comments and likes at the location, popular among smartphone shutterbugs was the archetypal flag pole and Capital Hill's pristine, manicured lawns.
Australian War Memorial
With its intricately detailed ceilings, poppy-laden Wall of Remembrance W and distinctive domed roof, the Australian War Memorial is a favourite for iPhoneographers, especially around Anzac Day.
Lake Burley Griffin
With a shoreline of 40.5 kilometres, there's plenty of room around Lake Burley Griffin to take a sneaky selfie or capture a watercolour sunrise.
The area's iconic architecture, curious wildlife and outdoorsy activity proved the most Instagrammable although the Segways warrant an honourable mention.
Patissez
The creators of the famous freakshakes harnessed people's fear of missing out to make their insane milkshakes the most in-demand in the country.
Before they even take a sip of the treat they've waited 40 minutes for, most punters whip out their phones to share their experience with their extended network, further fuelling the fire.
National Gallery of Australia
Ferris Bueller moments and the distinctive rainbow tiles dominate Instagram's photo map of the National Gallery of Australia.
Mount Ainslie
Those who walk, cycle or drive to the summit of Mt Ainslie are rewarded with panoramic views of some of Australia's standout landmarks - and a stellar shot to boot.
What Canberra landmarks do you think should have made the cut?
