A 27-year-old man was driving along Namatjira Drive in Fisher about 3.30pm, when police attempted to pull him over as part of traffic targeting activities.
The driver refused to pull over and ignored lights and sirens, police say.
That sparked a car chase through suburbs in Weston Creek.
But the pursuit came to an end when the man crashed into a guard rail on Hindmarsh Drive in Duffy.
The driver allegedly got out of the car and ran, but was quickly chased down by police.
He was arrested and taken to the ACT Watch House, charged with a series of traffic offences.
The man will face the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday, on charges including reckless and furious driving, driving while disqualified and negligent driving.
