One man who witnessed the scene said the crash may have involved a truck.
ACT Ambulance Service was alerted to the incident at the corner of Hardwick Crescent and Flack Street, near Kingsford Smith school just after 8.30 am on Tuesday.
The boy was assessed on scene by paramedics and taken to The Canberra Hospital in a stable condition with a fractured arm and facial injuries.
