A man was knocked out and repeatedly stomped on during a fight on a Civic street on Saturday night, prompting a police investigation.

The fight between three men broke out on the corner of Alinga Street and Northbourne Avenue in Civic about 11pm.
According to police, one man was repeatedly stomped on and was rendered unconscious for about 20 minutes. He was taken to the Canberra Hospital for treatment, but released with no serious injuries.
Police, including city beat officers and specialist response officers, responded to the incident within minutes and arrested the two other men.
Both men were charged with fighting in a public place, one of the pair was charged with causing actual bodily harm, and the other was charged with possessing a weapon. Police would not say what the alleged weapon was, but did confirm that it was not used in the alleged incident. The pair will face court later in the month.
Some of the incident was captured on CCTV, however Superintendent Brett Kidner have called for an witnesses to come forward to assist with the investigation.
“Civic is a very populated area at 11.00pm on a Saturday night and we believe that there could be several people who saw this altercation,” he said.
“ACT Policing relies on information from the public; if you saw something it’s important to report it to police. We are particularly seeking people who may have more information on the events leading up to this incident.”
