ACT Policing's latest figures reveal at 13 per cent drop in total annual crime in 2016 compared with 2015.
The data also revealed a 37 per cent spike in robbery between October and December 2016 when compared with the same period in 2015.
Figures show a rise in assaults with 58 more cases reported between October-December than between July to September.
However, there was a significant fall in motor vehicle theft with 103 fewer cases in the final three months of the year than in the July quarter.
Other theft types were also down by 18 per cent during the three month period.
Over the past 12 months crime rates have risen by 16 per cent in Gunghalin with 728 more crimes reported in 2016 than the year prior.
But the story for south of Lake Burley Griffin was different.
Tuggeranong and Weston Creek both saw a 10 per cent drop in crime across the year.
In 2016 in Tuggeranong 7435 crimes were reported compared with 8298 reported in 2015.
In Weston Creek there were 1792 total crimes in 2016 compared with 1995 the previous year.
