Elderly woman hospitalised following head on crash in Wallaroo

An elderly female driver has been hospitalised following a two-vehicle collision in Wallaroo, NSW earlier today.

Queanbeyan Police Sergeant Mark Dudley said the head on collision between a four-wheel drive and Mercedes car occurred on a narrow and unsealed stretch of Oakey Creek Road.

"The injuries sustained by the 80 year old woman were non-life threatening," he said.

"But due to her age she was hospitalised as a precaution."

Sergeant Dudley said the injured woman's Mercedes car sustained significant damage and was found to have both airbags deployed.

However the four-wheel drive vehicle involved driven by a male thought to be in his 40s, sustained minor damage.

The female driver involved in the crash was transported to Calvary Hospital in Canberra.
