The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, said he'd never been overseas and didn’t think he’d be able to until his kids graduated.
“When I realised we’d won, I raced to tell my wife and she didn’t believe me!,” he said.
The father said the first thing his family would do was pay off their mortgage and relieve some stress on their finances after the win on the weekend.
“I didn’t think we’d be mortgage free for at least another 20 years! It’s a big relief,” he said.
A NSW Lotteries spokeswoman said the division one spoils of $4 million were shared by six lucky entrants.
The winning numbers of draw 3439 were 20, 31, 5, 7, 39, and 14 with the supplementary numbers of 18 and 27.
The $708,049 prize is the largest ever claimed at the newsagency which is proving to be good luck for many Canberra punters.
In June, a man aged in his 60s claimed $687,000 from the same newsagency.
“Are you kidding me? Blimey, I’ve cracked the big one,” the winner said upon realising his success.
