Friday's strike by as many as 40 workers with contractor Cleanaway meant homes in more than 30 suburbs were left without kerbside garbage and recycling collection.
The Fair Work Commission ruled the industrial action was illegal and ordered that no further strike action be taken.
An ACT government spokesman said collections would continue from 3pm on Tuesday in suburbs including Campbell, Hackett, Hughes, Watson and O'Malley. Homes in Isaacs would be serviced on Wednesday and Thursday before scheduled collections resume on Friday.
Recycling collections will begin on Saturday for those suburbs missed last week and residents have been told to leave bins out for collection.
On Tuesday, Chief Minister Katy Gallagher said the government had asked regional neighbours for help removing rubbish.
''Negotiations have taken place for Cleanaway to have their drivers work longer hours [on Tuesday], while maintenance staff from Territory and Municipal Services will also undertake collections on Wednesday and Thursday to collect rubbish in Isaacs,'' the spokesman said.
''The suburbs were selected by Cleanaway based on their advice on what could be achieved with the additional hours worked.''
Negotiations between the ACT government and Cleanaway are continuing for further collection hours on Thursday. A new contract for Canberra's household garbage and recycling collection services has been awarded to SITA Australia and will begin in October. Tom McIlroy
