ACT Fire & Rescue was called to the home on Hakea Crescent at 4.40am. The roof collapsed as the first crew arrived, with the house fully alight.
The Emergency Services Agency said a neighbour, who called triple zero, had reported no one was home at the time.
Fire crews battled the blaze and were able to put it out by 5:30am, using three pumpers and the Bronto aerial unit.
A spokeswoman for ACT Policing said the cause of the fire was unknown at this time and investigations were ongoing.
At 10:30am, following a forensic analysis of the scene, police said they were treating the fire as suspicious.
"The house was extensively damaged," the spokeswoman said.
Earlier on Thursday morning, fire crews put out a rubbish fire across the road from the house about 1:30am.
Police urged anyone with information about the house fire, or who saw any suspicious activity in or near the vacant house around 4:30am Thursday to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
