The Australian National University community is mourning the death of former registrar and assistant vice-chancellor Colin Plowman.

Mr Plowman, aged 89, died at Clare Holland House after a short illness.
Mr Plowman was a strong advocate for students at ANU and was instrumental in amplifying the voice of students in university decision-making.
In a statement on his contribution to ANU, acting vice-chancellor Margaret Harding said that because of Mr Plowman's work, student representatives continue to sit on the university council and many of its sub-committees.
"Mr Plowman was a classic university figure, dedicated to all facets of our community, whether in the boardroom or the bar," Professor Harding said.
"For senior university management, he was an essential adviser, providing extensive leadership in the area of student administration."
Mr Plowman retired from ANU in 1991 but maintained a regular presence on campus, dining regularly with his colleagues at Chats Cafe and keeping a strong interest in university affairs. He was a father of four and grandfather of four.
A memorial service will be held at The Great Hall, University House on Tuesday 23 June, 2015 at 2pm.
