Firefighters have isolated a fuel leak following a collision between two trucks on the Monaro Highway that left two men injured.

Two male drivers were treated for minor injuries and have been taken to hospital by intensive care paramedics, following the crash near Tralee Street at Hume about 12pm today.

ACT Fire and Rescue and the HAZMAT unit worked for several hours to isolate the fuel leak from one of the trucks, and a bobcat was used to build a levee to contain any fuel run off.

Police were on scene to control traffic and southbound traffic on the Monaro Highway was diverted into Hume along Tralee Street.

At 3.30pm emergency crews were awaiting the arrival of a tow truck to clear the area.

Motorists were advised to expect delays and avoid the area where possible.
