It was sold under the hammer for $710,000 during the morning.
The home was one of very few offered at auction over the long weekend in Canberra.
The home is in an inner south location, just moments away from Griffith shops, Kingston and the Manuka shopping and restaurant precincts.
It has been well maintained and is in near-original condition. All of the bedrooms have built-in wardrobes and picture windows. There is a sunny lounge and dining room, original kitchen and bathroom. The home is located on an elevated 811 square metre block with sweeping easterly views.
LJ Hooker Manuka agent Stephen Thompson said the home was highly sought after.
''There were five registered bidders and in the end there were two who really fought it out,'' he said. ''It was a good result for a modest home in that area.''
Mr Thompson said there was a strong buyer sentiment in the market at the moment.
''Properties are selling before they go to auction at the moment. We had a house at Rubicon Street, Kaleen which sold last night that was meant to go to auction next week.
''The long weekend is traditionally a quiet time, a lot of people go to the coast and this just goes to show that if buyers are serious about a property they will stick around for it.''
Real estate agent Robert Peaker from Peter Blackshaw, Tuggeranong said the quiet market over the weekend was not a reflection of buyer confidence.
''It is a long weekend, which probably isn't the greatest of timing,'' he said.
While the warm weather could also be responsible for distracting buyers yesterday, Mr Peaker said next weekend should see more sales. ''There seems to be more numbers at exhibitions than last year,'' he said. ''There seems to be a bit more confidence in the market.''
Ray White also notched up a sale yesterday, successfully auctioning 12 Surveyor Street, Queanbeyan for $581,000.
It was a three-bedroom period home, with a formal lounge and a dining room, family room, study and a spacious kitchen. There is timber flooring throughout, a renovated bathroom and a second toilet in the laundry.
