Good samaritan sought after alleged assault as bus exchange

Date

Police want to speak with a good samaritan who helped a woman who was allegedly assaulted at the city bus interchange in broad daylight last week.

Officers say they received reports that a 41-year-old woman was being assaulted by a man and a woman at about 4.30pm on Friday November 23, at the corner of City Walk and Mort Street.

A person intervened in the scuffle to help the woman, was later taken to Canberra Hospital with an injured jaw.

A search warrant was executed at a Ngunnawal house on Thursday November 29, and items of clothing were seized.

A 26-year-old man and 28-year-old woman were arrested on the same day at Jabanungga Avenue in Ngunnawal and charged with assault.

Both have been released on bail and to face the ACT Magistrates Court on December 11.

Police would like to speak with the person who intervened to help the woman who is asked to contact City Police Station on 6256 7777.

Anyone else with information can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
