A 40-year-old man, whose body was found at the Stuart Flats in Griffith  on Thursday, died of accidental injuries, a post-mortem has shown.

ACT Policing is preparing a report for the Coroner.

A forensics squad closed off Block 8 on Light Street, Griffith with police tape for most of the day on Thursday. Wearing white jumpsuits, they appeared to be working on more than one floor of the building.

Blood could be seen splattered on the walls through a second-floor window of the four-storey building.

A resident of the building told the Canberra Times he had been unable to access the building from 10.30am until after 6.30pm.
