Right-wing commentator Janet Albrechtsen has been appointed to the National Museum of Australia's council.

Dr Albrechtsen is a columnist for The Australian, is a former board member of the ABC and is a former lawyer.
The museum's director Dr Mathew Trinca said as a former ABC board member, Foreign Affairs Council member and experienced columnist Dr Albrechtsen would bring a "great depth of knowledge and skill to the position".
"Dr Albrechtsen brings wide experience in the legal and finance sectors and has a strong sense of leadership practice in public sector organisations," he said.
"Dr Albrechtsen's role as ambassador and mentor with the Australian Indigenous Education Fund will provide the museum council with valuable insights into important Indigenous issues."
The appointment was announced on Friday by Attorney-General and minister for the arts George Brandis, along with the appointments of four other new council members of cultural institutions.
These include former federal minister Ian Campbell and former NSW opposition leader Peter Collins to the board of the Australian National Maritime Museum, Thomas Bradley QC to the board of the National Library of Australia and Paul Neville to the National Film and Sound Archive.
