Mohammad Alabassi, 20, has pleaded not guilty to five charges, including three counts of rape, confining a person, and attempted aggravated robbery with force.

The woman was working from an apartment in Braddon when she received a phone call from a man, who identified himself as "Ali", requesting an appointment, court documents say.

Once in the woman's room, the woman asked him about payment before the man abruptly said he needed to wash his hands.

When he emerged from the bathroom, the woman told him the appointment would cost $350 and he started searching through his pockets.

It's alleged he pulled out a box cutter and waved the blade in the woman's face as he demanded cash and said: "Just give me the money and I'll go."

The woman escaped and ran to the door before the man allegedly slammed the door shut, blocked it and pushed the woman into a wall.

As he held her there, he continued to wave the box cutter in her face, demanding money before he said: "Well let's just have sex then."

Police allege the man then raped her.

It's alleged he sexually assaulted her twice more before leaving.

The case returns to court next month.
