Behind the Lines 2012, held at the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House, gathers a selection of cartoons that provide a snapshot into what has been a fiery year in Australian politics. The exhibition's official launch was held on Monday night, kicked off by a discussion between The Canberra Times cartoonist David Pope, pictured, and award-winning photographer and host of ABC's Insiders ''Talking Pictures'' segment Mike Bowers.
Pope was awarded Behind the Lines Political Cartoonist of the Year at the launch, less than a month after he took out the Australian Cartoonists Association's Gold Stanley Award for cartoonist of the year.
Behind The Lines features 87 works from 40 cartoonists.
The cartoons will be on display until November next year.
