A man was airlifted to Canberra Hospital in a critical condition on Monday morning after a crash on the Princes Highway on the NSW South Coast.

An off-duty nurse on her way back from a shift at Bega Hospital helped police and emergency services care for the man who was injured in the crash at Frog's Hollow, south of Bega.
The man, in his 60s, was driving a Hyundai along the Princes Highway to Bega from Merimbula when he crashed into a tree.
Emergency services were called to the scene at about 7.20am.
Paramedics and other emergency services worked for almost three hours to free the man who was trapped in his car.
NSW Police said the crash happened "on a straight part of the highway," and the man was the only occupant of the car.
"The emergency services and police first on scene were greatly assisted by an off-duty nurse from Bega Hospital, who stopped by as she was returning home from her shift," Detective Sergeant Justin Marks said.
He said the man had been "significantly trapped".
The highway was closed for much of the morning before the Snowy Hydro SouthCare helicopter arrived and transported the man to Canberra Hospital in a critical condition.
