Andrew Ball, 27, sparked a massive police hunt across the northern suburbs in late February when he stole a silver 1999 Mazda 323 Protege, containing the baby, after the mother stopped to assist him with a broken down vehicle.

Police shut down routes out of Canberra and called in large amounts of resources, including a police helicopter, to search for the baby boy, named Morrison, on February 20.

The child was later found alive and well on a porch in Palmerston a short time later.

Ball has been in custody since the incident and has already pleaded guilty to a string of charges relating to the crime spree, including abandoning the baby.

Other charges relate to a knife-point robbery of a pharmacy, and stealing cigarettes, a bottle of vodka, beer, a computer, a media player, a wallet, a Visa card, and a Ford Territory, all on the same day.

The defendant maintained guilty pleas to the 15 charges when he appeared in the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday.

Magistrate Beth Campbell remanded Ball in custody and committed the matters to the higher court for sentence.

Ms Campbell ordered pre-sentence and drug and alcohol abuse reports be completed to aid in sentence.

The case will appear before the higher court later this month.
