There has been no word yet on why the festival was put on hold, but the official Kicks Entertainment website said organisers ''do not believe that the show would have been an acceptable festival experience for ticket holders.''
It was officially cancelled on Tuesday, just three days before it was due to begin.
The Momentum Festival would have been held on Friday at 7pm at the University of Canberra Refectory, and was to feature international acts such as the Stafford Brothers and Will Sparks.
UC Live Entertainment and Marketing Manager Anna Wallace said she completely agreed with Kicks Entertainment's decision to postpone.
''It was something that were really looking forward to, but we definitely didn't want to put on an event for the first time without it being completely successful,'' she said.
She also said she would try to put the event on again at a later date.
The cancellation was Kicks Entertainment's second for Canberra this year, after the Foreshore festival was also put off after organisers said they weren't feeling 'inspired' by the event.
All tickets will be refunded, minus ticketing fees, directly to purchasers
