Specialist Remote Area Firefighting Teams will be helping NSW fire crews over the next three days, by tackling blazes in areas which can't be reached by heavy machinery.
The Cooma fire was first reported on Friday afternoon and has burnt more than 2000 hectares in the last week.
There were 22 trucks and 65 firefighters working on Thursday to extinguish the fire near Shannons Flat Road, 20 kilometres north of Cooma.
On top of that, five firefighting aircraft have been deployed to assist fire crews in the area.
The blaze is still classified by the NSW Rural Fire Service as being out of control and smoke from the fire was seen over Canberra earlier this week.
The ACT has sent 14 firefighters, including the RAFT teams, to Cooma on Thursday, replacing a Canberra group who left on Monday.
The teams specialise in entering remote areas, such as valleys or dense bushland, and preventing the spread of the fire by digging fire lines and removing fuel.
In total the ACT has sent just under 100 firefighters to the Cooma fire over the past week, as well as 16 SES relief drivers and two aviation specialists.
A spokesperson for NSW RFS said fire crews were attempting to bring as much of the fire under control as possible before the weather deteriorated over the weekend.
Temperatures and wind have been forecast to rise again on Friday, with temperatures of at least 35 degrees predicated for most of next week.
The spokesperson said there is still no threat to property or life from the fire, at this time.
