An ACT Parks and Conservation Service spokesman said the burn along the Ashbrook fire trail could take up to two days to reduce fire fuel.
The burn is one of several being carried out over the next few weeks, totalling more than 7000 hectares.
The spokesman said a second burn would take place in northern Namadgi National Park after the Ashbrook burn if fuel moisture was appropriate.
