Canberra Girls Grammar graduate Eesha Hunjon, 21, says she's been singing and making music for as long as she can remember.

"Since I was literally walking I was singing – my dad's a singer so I started singing as well. My background's Indian so I would do a lot of Bollywood music and then I started writing my own music and I took it really seriously in college," she says.

"I realised I have to go to auditions, I have to put out music and so I started auditioning whenever possible."

It was at one of these auditions where she met Chevonne Nel, Rachael Steel and Nicole Blair.

"From the start we just clicked so well. I think our music tastes were all similar we just gelled. So from there we realised we've got something going," she says.

Together they formed Mischief, a girl group with a decent dose of cheese and pop.

Eesha now travels back and forwards between Canberra where she's studying HR and management, and South-East Queensland, where the other girls live.

In between her frequent visits, there's lots of Skype sessions to work on their songs, which they write themselves.

Even as the oldest member of the group, Eesha is still a bit young to remember Aussie girl groups Girlfriend and the Popstars-created Bardot who they're following in the footsteps of. Instead she cites One Direction, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift as inspiration for the foursome.

"We're very pop. I think we all kind of agree we wanted to make music that people can just have a dance, and a laugh and smile," she says.

"My music that I wrote initially was very different, I was starting to go into the more folk side of things. But I'm so glad it diverged into this different path of pop music – it's different and I'm so glad I'm experiencing it with three other amazing girls, because let's face it the industry is so terrifying."
