A 16-year-old northside girl allegedly led police on a high speed chase before crashing a stolen BMW in Canberra.

Police said the girl reached speeds of 160km/h in the stolen silver BMW before she was caught by police after she crashed on a roundabout on William Slim Drive in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The car was found to have stolen number plates and to have property that was believed to have been stolen in it.
Police said they noticed the stolen silver BMW parked in the Shell service station in Dickson about 3am on Tuesday.
They allege a girl moved from the passenger seat into the driver's seat and drove away when she noticed the police.
Police chased the vehicle along Antill Street toward Northbourne Avenue, and along the Barton Highway before the driver crashed on the roundabout at William Slim Drive, and was forced to stop due to major damage to the car's undercarriage.
A 16-year-old girl is expected to face the ACT Children's Court on Tuesday later this afternoon charged with driving unlicensed, driving a stolen motor vehicle, failing to stop when directed by police and possession of stolen property.
An 18-year-old woman will be summonsed to face the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date accused of riding in a stolen motor vehicle.
