A man has been killed after his car hit a tree at high speed on the Federal Highway north of Canberra on Friday morning.

Emergency services were alerted to the single-vehicle crash involving a Daewoo sedan at Yarra, near Wollogorang Creek, just before 11am.
The 40-year-old male driver was the only occupant of the car, and a spokeswoman for NSW Ambulance said he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A crime scene has been established, and will be examined by specialist police.
The Snowy Hydro SouthCare helicopter was alerted, but the mission was called off before they arrived.
The NSW Police crash investigation unit were sent to the site to investigate the cause of the crash.
NSW Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
