All three will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court, charged with fighting in public and participating in a criminal group.

The men were arrested in relation to an an incident outside Westfield Belconnen's northern entrance on October 4 in which the three man allegedly violently assaulted two other men.

The first of the three men – a 35-year-old man from NSW – was arrested at 2pm on Thursday outside the Department of Finance building in Parkes.

Police said the arrest occurred "with the assistance of Specialist Response Group tactical operatives".

When asked about the arrest yesterday, a police spokeswoman played down the matter and advised The Canberra Times that it was "a community policing incident".

NSW and ACT police then searched the man's home in Crestwood NSW, seizing ammunition and gang clothing.

At 2.30pm yesterday, a second team of police stopped a truck on Canberra Avenue in Symonston and arrested a 26-year-old man from Queanbeyan, also allegedly involved in the attack at Belconnen.

Finally, at 7.20pm, police arrested a 27-year-old man in MacGregor, searching his black Holden Commodore and apartment and seizing more items.

All three men were held in custody overnight and police said bail for the group will be "vigorously opposed" in court on Thursday.
