The 27 year old, who cannot be named, is facing a range of charges.
He is accused of two assaults against the woman, one committed with intent to engage in sexual intercourse, contravening a protection order, and threatening to kill her.
The offences are alleged to have occurred in late March, when he went his former girlfriend's home.
He is accused of grabbing her by the hair and smashing her head against the wall.
Court documents suggested police found her at the home, semi-conscious with her pants and underwear pulled down.
The prison officer is fighting the charges.
He appeared before Magistrate Karen Fryar in the ACT Magistrates Court on Tuesday, and was committed for trial in the ACT Supreme Court.
Documents showed police believed he threatened the woman while holding a brick in his hand, telling her: "I am not f---ing going to jail because of you."
They also alleged he told her "you will be dead before I go to jail" and "everyone will think that your hero f---ing knight in shining armour boyfriend killed you".
The case will appear in the ACT Supreme Court later this week.
The prison guard remains in custody, and no bail application was made.
