The Queensland man was skiing alone down an intermediate ''blue'' run at Perisher before 10am, when he lost control.
Police believe he died on impact.
The crash happened about 150m from the bottom of the ski run. The 25-year-old's body was discovered by other skiers, who alerted resort staff and medics.
Attempts to resuscitate the man were unsuccessful.
Police say the skier was of intermediate skill, and the conditions at the ski fields were near-perfect for spring.
The man's family have been notified, but police were still trying to get in touch with some relatives yesterday afternoon.
It is the second death from a ski accident this season.
A man was killed at Thredbo earlier this year after he collided with another skier, although it is still unclear whether the crash led directly to his death. The 72-year-old Gosford man died in Canberra Hospital on July 30 following the crash, according to police.
Both incidents are still under investigation and reports will be prepared for the NSW Coroner.
Perisher Ski Resort couldn't comment on the incident yesterday.
