Police have alleged that a group of workers used excessive force on the children at the Northside Community Service.

The offences are alleged to date back to last year, and involve common assaults on children as young as one.

Three workers have been charged with 13 offences between them.

Charges against a second childcare worker, Una Masters, 60, were brought before the ACT Magistrates Court for the first time on Friday morning.

She was charged with seven offences of common assault.

Not guilty pleas were entered on her behalf by lawyer Peter Woodhouse.

Mr Woodhouse said the case had some complexities and asked Magistrate Robert Cook to set the matter down for case management, rather than listing it for hearing immediately.

Masters was not present in court.

The matter will be back before the court in January.

Earlier this week, the case against another childcare worker, Rajani Gautum, 49, appeared before the court.

Gautum also had not guilty pleas entered on her behalf.

A third worker is also expected to face court over assault allegations.

A fourth worker was also issued with a court summons, but the exact nature of those allegations is unclear.

Numerous inquiries are being conducted into the allegations of assault. It is understood that the ACT government, police, and the service provider itself are all reviewing the allegations on their handling.
