The kitten was found severely injured near a drain near Bunny Street and dropped to the organisation's Weston shelter.
Vets were then forced to carry out an emergency amputation of its leg, according to the RSPCA.
"We were quite shocked at the physical condition of this poor kitten when it arrived," RSPCA ACT Senior Inspector Catherine Croatto said.
The vets will also now perform additional checks on the animal.
