An ACT Parks and Conservation Service spokesman said the burns would begin on Wednesday and should be be completed next week, weather permitting.
The fires would burn through
The spokesman said firefighters tried to undertake burns in weather conditions that minimised the impact of smoke on Canberra residents, however some smoke was expected across the ACT.
ACT Health has advised people with asthma and other chronic respiratory or chronic cardiac diseases to avoid vigorous exercise and to stay inside where possible if affected by the smoke.
