Police have responded to several incidents of property damage in the area over the past month, the latest over the weekend at Weston Creek Children's Centre and McDonald's Weston.
Six windows were smashed at the child care centre and a childproof gate damaged on Saturday morning. At some time on the same day, the drive-through menu sign and the glass frontage at McDonalds were also damaged.
Police said the damage was distressing for the people of Weston, and called on the community to be vigilant for any suspicious activity.
“It's hard to fathom the mindset of people that commit these types of property damage, particularly on a Child Care Centre,” Officer-in-Charge of Woden Police Station Sergeant Mark Steel said.
“The growing number of property damage incidents in the Weston Creek area is concerning to police and we're calling on the community to work with us and report any suspicious activity.”
Police would urge anyone who may have witnessed the incidents or may have seen anything suspicious in the area to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website.
