Suspected Majura Park gas leak

Majura Park shopping centre evacuated due to suspected gas leak.

Fire and rescue crews are at Majura Park shopping centre investigating a suspected gas leak.

The building, including BIG W, has been evacuated as a precaution.

Three fire pumpers on scene with the Hazardous Materials unit, Breathing Apparatus Van and a Command Officer.

The Aviation Rescue Firefighting Service is also on scene and Crews are conducting air monitoring.

Latest reports from onlookers are people are being allowed back into the centre.

 

Update: ACT Fire & Rescue have confirmed no gas leak present. 

Some crews will remain on scene to investigate the source of the odour that triggered the evacuation, while shoppers have been permitted to return to the area.

ACT Fire & Rescue treated one patient with oxygen prior to arrival by the ACT Ambulance Service. The patient did not require transport to hospital.
