ACT Policing declined the comment on the matter, but said officers did not have to respond to complaints within a specific time frame.

But Taylah Kolaric, 18, said police found the time to serve her with a domestic violence order, taken out by her alleged attacker, within four days of the incident.

Ms Kolaric claims the man, who she had met a couple of times before, hurled abuse at her and a friend during a confrontation in a carpark near Mooseheads nightclub on London Circuit in the early hours of Saturday, November 1.

She alleges he shoved Ms Kolaric's friend, prompting her to push him away.

He then allegedly punched Ms Kolaric to the right side of her head two-to-three times, knocking her unconscious and causing her to fall to the ground.

A friend said she regained consciousness about 20 seconds later.

The man was restrained and left the scene a short time later.

In paperwork filed to get the DVO, her alleged attacker denied he punched her, instead claiming she took a swing at him.

She went to Belconnen police station to report the incident but was given a reference number and told to call later when she had less alcohol in her system.

Ms Kolaric said she called when she awoke that afternoon and offered to come in to the station but was told an officer would come out to visit her.

She traded calls with police over the following week and was told an officer would be in contact.

Ms Kolaric said the call finally came on Tuesday – 10 days after the alleged attack – and she made a statement that afternoon.

Meanwhile, a police officer served Ms Kolaric with the court order on Wednesday last week.

"They've had time to come to my house to give me an DVO, but [it took them 10 days] to take my story," she said.

She said the time delay meant her physical injuries had disappeared.

"My bruise is now gone. There's no evidence of it. It's lucky I took pics of it myself," she said.

She claimed police then revealed they had already taken statements from her alleged attacker and indicated she should drop the allegation or she could

"I'm sure they've gone in and told a completely different story.

"It's not really fair. He's the one who punched me two times and knocked me out."

But Ms Kolaric said the threat of prosecution would not deter her seeking justice and she planned to fight the violence order in court next month.

An ACT Policing spokesman said it would not be appropriate to comment on the case as the matter was ongoing.

However, he said there wasn't a specific time frame police would try to get a formal statement from a victim and it depended on the incident and circumstances which surrounded it.

"Firstly police need to get a statement off the complainant. That person cannot be intoxicated or drug affected.

"From there police investigations will commence with a view to taking statements from all parties involved and witnesses taking into account mutual agreement between police and those involved as to when people are available."

Ms Kolaric, who said this was her first interaction with police, hoped to have charges laid against her alleged attacker.

She was told the man had been heard bragging about the alleged incident.

She injured her back and tailbone when she fell and found it difficult to stand at work last week.

But, fortunately, X-rays cleared her of any other injuries.

"I don't know how I'm pretty OK [physically] from it to be honest."

"There are campaigns against violence against women and one punch assaults," she said.

"But they haven't taken any notice of it. It's absolutely appalling really."
