ACT Policing have confirmed the crash into the prime ministerial property's wall by a 65-year-old man driving a Hyundai i30 was medical related, with alcohol and drugs not involved.

Police have declined to provide specific details of the health issue that led to the accident about 8am on March 22.

The man suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital for observation.

The federal government has lodged a claim with its self-managed insurance fund Comcover in relation to the damage to the double-brick wall, facing National Circuit.

A Department of Finance spokeswoman said costs would be settled as part of the claims process.
