It's a very happy smile that survives a face plant into the snow. On a sunny winter's day some of Canberra's smallest daredevils tackled the slopes of Corin Forest toboggan field on Thursday.

There were plenty of tumbles, but after dusting themselves off the children were beaming again and heading back to the top of the slope for another run.
The snow playground was patchy in areas as the sun and milder temperatures took their toll, but thanks to a big night of snowmaking the field had more than enough white stuff.
Children from 18 months on had no fear when they climbed on board and zoomed down the slope.
And it wasn't just Canberra children, with many NSW people visiting during their school holidays.
LuLu Carmody, 5, from Drummoyne, Sydney, was one of many first-time visitors to the snow. ''I like it [tobogganing], it goes really fast,'' she said.
Children weren’t the only ones to tackle the slopes, with many parents joining in, some of whom were also thrown from their toboggans on the way down.
Windellama mother Karen Scarfi said her family was using Corin Forest as a preview before a visit to the main snowfields later this winter.
''It’s a great alternative to driving all the way to Thredbo to see the snow,'' she said.
Parents with children wanting to see some snow in the region might have to wait a while, with Weatherzone meteorologist Guy Dixon saying the next significant fall at Corin Forest wasn't expected till Wednesday.
But the resorts around Canberra, including Thredbo and Perisher, will be seeing a much healthier snow drop over the weekend, with up to 20 centimetres forecast on Saturday and Sunday.
''For the resorts, tomorrow will see some isolated snow showers, remaining light between two and five centimetres,'' he said.
''Saturday and Sunday will bring fairly good falls ... and that will be the best snow fall before the big day on Wednesday.''
